The SenTec Digital Monitoring System (SDMS).

The Digital SenTec V-Sign™ is a portable monitor that enables simultaneous real-time monitoring of pCO2, SpO2 and pulse. It incorporatesthe latest opto-electronics and digital signal processing technologies, with clinical studies documenting the accuracy and reliability. With this monitor we are able to provide the ultimate Homecare follow-up for pulmonary disease patients including, COPD, Neuromuscular Diseases, Hypoventilation Obesity Syndrome, etc.

Clinical studies regarding the use of the SenTec monitor state the following:

  • Homecare Monitoring
    There appears no significant difference (p>0.05) between the blood gas analyses (M1 = 43.8 ± 7.6) and tPCO2 (M2, M3, M4). Moreover, home tPCO2 and hospital blood arterial PCO2 were highly correlated (r =0.85, p<0.001).

    These preliminary results show the usefulness of home tPCO2, this measure ishighly reproducible and not statistically different from hospital blood arterial PCO2.Thus, this home intervention may be useful for the follow-up of pulmonary diseasepatients, notably in the early screening of exacerbations or treatment adaptations.

  • Optimization of NIV Ventilation Settings
    CONCLUSION:
    Combined continuous PcCO2 and oximetry monitoringis feasible and permits the optimization of non-invasive positivepressure ventilation settings in patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratoryfailure due to hypoventilation. Continuous PcCO2 monitoring mightserve as an important additional tool to complement diurnal arterialcarbon dioxide tension values.

    CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS:
    A titration study with continuousPcCO2 measurement in patients receiving non-invasive positive pressureventilation can be helpful to optimize the ventilator settings to decide ventilation settings for NPPV.
